Collectibles Wholesale Supplier
Wedding cards, souvenirs, hand painted cards, historically cards publisher and supplier. Our company started in Georgian times. 1757 saw the discovery of clay north of our company, which encouraged the first production of china in the east coast seaside town. It flourished for 40 years and has been collectable since then. Current production blossoms in our workshops within yards of the original factory. Our company was also sold in the city of London only yards from Goldsmiths Hall and Mansion House. Our City involvement continues to this day. Many designs and shapes reflect the success of the past and give such pleasure today. Our company has been highly collectable since 1760 (Ladies Day). In 1756 we found clay on our Gunton estate which, after it was analyzed in London, was reported to be akin to Delft ware. However, our early attempts to produce porcelain ware were unsuccessful and, about one year later; a partnership was formed to establish a company.
By January 1760 the company was ready to advertise its wares in the Ipswich Journal and records show that the porcelain produced at our company was highly successful, being advertised as far a field as London and Cambridge. It is also possible that some ware was exported to Holland. During the life of the factory, a range of items were made, from birth tablets to spittoons. Although the vast majority of the ware falls within the category of everyday household items, things such as eye-baths, inkwells and cutlery handles can also be found among catalogue entries. As well as the distinctive blue and white hand-painted ware, the factory produced pieces with enamel decoration and transfer printing, though these were to come during the middle and later periods, and probably contributed to the decline in hand-painting.
